The high-power dual wavelength D-Light Pro polymerisation lamp combines a light for curing dental materials with a powerful diagnostic tool for detecting plaque, demineralised dentin, fissures, microleaks and old fluorescent restorations.By using a blue and a violet LED, the D-Light Pro covers wavelengths from 400–465 nm. Thus, all commercially available photoinitiators can be polymerised without any problems.
For curing, the small lamp offers two different modes:
The High Power Mode (HP) is suitable for all routine cases and by using both LEDs for all materials at a power of 1400 mW/cm². One cycle lasts 20 seconds.
The Low Power Mode (LP) works with a reduced power of 700 mW/cm² to reduce the heat of the lamp. This allows deep, near-pulp restorations to be cured, for example. Also in this mode, all materials can be polymerised in a 20 second cycle.
The special strength of the D-Light Pro is the detection mode. It allows plaque, demineralised dentin, fissures, microleaks or old fluorescent restorations to be easily detected. Plaque, for example, is shown in red under the light of the lamp – making it easy to visualise risk areas. Demineralised dentin is also shown in red. For easier differentiation of leaks and discolouration, the former show up visibly under the violet light. The cleaning of fissures can also be easily checked with the D-Light Pro: after thorough cleaning, they show no fluorescence under violet light. Since many composite materials show hyperfluorescence under violet light, they can be easily detected by the small lamp. This makes it easy to identify old restorations or excess material and thus to prepare cavities in a minimally invasive way without any problems and to preserve the tooth structure. It is also possible to use the light to assess the depth of cracks in the tooth structure using the transillumination technique.
The straight mouthpiece facilitates intraoral access and the seamless stainless steel handpiece fits comfortably in the hand. Due to the optimally aligned light beam, polymerisation is safe even if the lamp cannot be ideally placed. To select between the different modes, simply turn the battery.
After removing the battery and the electronic component, the lamp is completely autoclavable.
